We specialize in moving partial loads anywhere nationwide. What exactly qualifies as a small move is anything 2,000 pounds or less.
For example, you may have a piano that weighs 600lbs and that’s the only item you will be moving or you have 1,500lbs of moving boxes packed with some furniture. That’s perfect! We try our hardest to accommodate and customize your move the way you want it.

Sterling Van Lines is one of the few moving companies that specialize in small moves.
As small move experts, we can offer two distinct advantages:
1. Lower cost! When you share space on a van with others, you are “sharing the cost” as well as decreasing your cost of moving. Sharing a whole truckload with other customers saves you money.
2. We are trained, professional movers. You receive door to door inside delivery with full blanket service, the same as if you had a large load.
Save money with our low weight minimum. Most other moving companies look to move large 5,000-15,000 pound loads and have a 2,000-pound minimum. Sterling Van Lines does not require high minimum poundage for small moves. In fact, our low required minimum is approximately 400 pounds. For example, if you have 500 or 800 pounds to move, we will only charge you for the exact amount of pounds. This differs from most moving companies, who will charge you for the full 2,000 pounds. We save you money.
Protect your furniture. Small moves are our specialty. We are experts at it. Each piece of furniture is wrapped in blankets and placed in our vans to ensure its safe delivery to you. You will not be charged “extra” for protecting your items in blankets or using tape. Upon delivery, we will place your items exactly where you want them in your home.
What are small moves? Small moves involve 2,000 pounds or less – about 1-1/2 rooms of furniture.

All standard movers will figure out the pounds involved in your move. The standard formula used in the moving industry is seven pounds per cubic foot.

52.50 cubic feet x 7 = 367.5 pounds
Sterling can help you move anywhere within 90 miles in the Los Angeles area. We can take care of small or bigger moves within Los Angeles. Small moves are usually done on the same day, sometimes two days. A typical small move involves items from one or two rooms, including some furniture.
For 30 years, we have been helping people when they need a few things move somewhere within California or to another state. For example, we can assist a college student move back home. Or following an estate sale, we can ship different items to various locations within California or other states such as shipping a precious and fragile item from California to Florida. We make sure the items are properly package and ensure they will not be damaged during the shipment.
Sterling is one of the few companies that provide this type of specific small move service. We are unique in that we can deliver small shipments all over the country. Sometimes, we might have as many as 30 shipments out for delivery. It all depends on how many items each person needs to have delivered and where it is being shipped to.
Regardless of how much you are moving, Sterling provides the same level of service as any of the big companies. Our minimum is 400 pounds, which is quite a bit less than any other moving company. We don’t require a large minimum (most companies ask for at least 2,000 pounds) to have your items delivered. And that saves you money. We only charge what you want to ship, exactly what is being delivered.
Sterling Van Lines specializes in small moves within 90 miles in the Los Angeles area or from state to state (within the 48 continental states). For example, you can ship a piano from Los Angeles to San Francisco, Kansas or New York. Sterling can pick up items from any state and deliver it to another state. However, Sterling cannot deliver intrastate meaning locally within a state (other than California). Intrastate refers to moves that begin and end in the same state.
